They call me Bachanal!

Well this blog has been sitting in my Word Docs for almost a week now, typed a few up and forgot to post. That's what a week off work does to you.....

It's been a while since I blogged, and to tell you the truth, I've wanted but you know when you have lots going on you just don't have the time. Work has been tedious to say the least. So much has been going on at home too, so by the time I get in from work and deal with all that rubbish blogging came very far down a LONG list.

Anywhoo, after so much drama I was almost not going to participate in Carnival this year until my bestest convinced me that it was the best thing I could do to take my mind off things for a few days. And ya know what? She was absolutely spot on as usual!

Sunday ended up being the most fun I've had in YEARS and there's no exaggeration in those words. Throwing paint on each other and getting drunk while having a huge street party doesn't half make you forget your troubles for a while. Seen some people I haven't seen in a very long time (some from last years' carnival in fact) and partied with them. Reminded me how much I miss them too :)

Monday for me was was the icing on the cake as I got to wear one of the most beautiful costumes I've ever come across. At one point I looked down the hill to see all array of colours the brightest you've ever seen. Pulsating pinks, Radiant reds, Blistering blues. Every colour conceivable and a sea of smiling faces and people of all shades dancing together. My heart was full.

It's amazing how for two days you can talk to pretty much anyone you pass on the street and get a friendly response. It's also amazing that for those two days you can dance with anyone (including policemen/women) and it be okay.

I'm so glad I was a part of Bachanal Mas band (who lovingly made the costumes) they're a professional team who ensured everyone was safe and had food and drink as well as a great time. If you haven't yet experienced Carnival on the other side of the ropes, you need to join us next year. I'll be the one with a huge smile on my face, covered with paint dancing behind the truck!

I am Bachanal, bitches!
